About Me.
Hello! I’m Kaitlin
Licensed Therapist
Grief and loss are subjects that have been woven into the fabric of my life for as long as I can remember. Rather than viewing these experiences as mere obstacles, I have found myself deeply fascinated by the human capacity to endure. As someone who has navigated an abundant amount of personal loss, I have dedicated my professional life to observing and supporting the diverse, complex ways that individuals cope with the unique weight of each bereavement they experience.
My personal journey with grief began when I was only four months old with the passing of my mother. Growing up with that foundational absence shaped my perspective on the world, a perspective that was further deepened when my father passed away when I was twenty-two. Throughout those formative years and into my adulthood, I was also profoundly close with my grandparents, whose eventual passing added further layers to my understanding of what it means to say goodbye. These experiences were not just milestones of sorrow; they were the catalysts for my deep-seated empathy and my desire to walk alongside others in their darkest moments.
In my practice, I often return to the symbolism of the Morning Glory flower, which holds a sacred meaning for me. In the Victorian era, the Morning Glory was used to symbolize “never-ending feelings of love toward someone.” Historically, these flowers were brought to gravesites as a living tribute to those no longer with us. To me, however, the flower represents more than just memory; it symbolizes resiliency. The Morning Glory blooms anew each day, reaching toward the light despite the shadows of the night before.
The choice of this flower is also deeply personal to my own timeline of loss and celebration. Morning Glory is one of the birth flowers for September—a month that carries immense weight in my life. It is the month of my own birthday, the month of my mother’s birthday, and the month in which my father passed away. This convergence of life and death within a single thirty-day span has reinforced my belief that joy and sorrow often exist in the same space.
When I chose the name Morning Glory Counselling, I wanted it to serve as a representation of the love I have lost, but more importantly, the resiliency I have gained to keep moving forward. My mission is to provide a soft, professional, and safe environment where you can explore your own grief. I believe that while loss is universal, the way we carry it is deeply individual. I am here to help you navigate those “never-ending feelings of love” and find the strength to continue your own journey toward healing and hope.
